The Alliance

This science fiction novel begins in a community located in Wyoming, eighteen years after most of civilization is destroyed. The people in this community are captured and integrated into a “perfect” society. After the people in this community are captured and taken to the Alliance of Four Cities, one leader named Eric from the smaller community is separated from his family, and taken to the Major who is the head of the city.
Eric discovers everything he needs to know about this newly introduced society. People are supervised, so to speak, by a tiny chip implanted in the back of their skulls. When ever feelings of guilt, or anger arise, the chip sends pain through the body, so simple arguing could cause you pain, and you would eventually be trained to be less angry. As a result, they have a completely safe, and crime free society. The only exception, are the guardians, police like officials, who do not have the implant.
With what few allies Eric has, he begins to take action to regain his and others freedom, regardless of the odds against him.
This book was excellent. It was an easy book to read, and over all highly enjoyable. It was nicely written and easily comprehendible, perhaps a bit too much. It was intense, making it a page turner. The ideas and problems that Lund presents within will have the reader taking a new look at what really goes on in our lives and wonder what a perfect world actually is. I recommend it for sure!
