Northanger Abbey

Jane Austen

Northanger Abbey was Jane Austen’s first published novel. It takes place in Bath, England, where she goes with her aunt and uncle, and begins her experiences in the real world. She also spends time in Northanger Abbey, the estate of her beloved friends Eleanor and Henry Tilney’s father. The Heroine of the novel is Catherine Morland, a seventeen year old girl. Not only does she fall in love with Henry Tilney, but she also grows out of her adolescent stages.

I personally did not enjoy the book. I did not like the personalities of many of the characters, and that was the greatest turn off for me. I guess that if you are a classical lover you would probably enjoy it. I do typically enjoy classics, but just not this one.

Overall rating: 2/5
