New moon

by Stephenie Meyer

New Moon, the sequel to Twilight, is debatably as action packed as the first. In this book, Edward breaks up with Bella, thinking that separating his world from Bella would bring her more safety. This only throws her into a state of depression. Jacob, only an insignificant character in the first book, is the person who helps pull her out of her deep state of depression.

Bella becomes part of the La Push “family,” and best friends with Jacob. Later after some major miscommunication Alice, Edwards sister and also a vampire, visits Bella thinking that she had died. This information mistakenly reaches Edward. Edward thinking she is dead refuses to live, and runs of to Italy where he can be killed. This is were the ancient vampires called the Volturi live. As a result, Alice and Bella chase him to Italy, and only in the nick of time save him.

Well, my personal opinion was that it wasn’t nearly as full of action as the first. It seemed like way to long of a book for what few main events that actually occurred. Nonetheless, like the first, it was still a page turner. I did enjoy it, and know many other people who would also agree. I would recommend this book regardless of my rating (it is fun to read but won’t be that great over and over).

Overall rating: 3/5
